20th Anniversary Gala & Celebrations

On Sunday, September 11, 2016 our community came out in full swing to help us celebrate our official 20th anniversary. See all photos from the event. We gathered for a gala on a beautiful afternoon at the Loring-Greenough House. Our youth emceed the afternoon and gave awards to a number of longtime Youth Center supporters. Everyone enjoyed delicious food and a wide array of auction items. We felt the love and support of our community in a big way.

Our 20th Anniversary Gala awardees (pictured above along with SSYC staff and youth) were:

  • Bashier Kayou, Community Leader
  • Camile Gonzalez, Parent Volunteer, South Street Youth Center
  • Liz Malia, Massachusetts State Representative
  • Susan Porter, Cooperative Artists Institute
  • Wanda McClain, Vice President, Community Health and Health Equity, Brigham & Women’s Hospital
  • Officer Antoinette Cabral, Area E-13 Community Police Department
  • Officer Rafael Rodriguez, Area E-13 Community Police Department

save-the-date-gala-finalThe South Street Youth Center is a small program with a big heart and a huge impact. Walk in the door of the Center any Monday through Thursday afternoon during the school year and you’ll find volunteers and staff helping with homework, kids using the computer lab, art projects happening, dancing, singing and lots of life! During the summer, thanks in part to the financial support of friends and neighbors like you, many kids are able to attend local summer programs and camps.

Thank you for joining us to celebrate all the life, joy and leadership this center has brought to our neighborhood — and to help us keep going for another 20 strong years.
